Waxing
I use Ashmira Botanica warm wax and hot wax which gives amazing results, hydrated skin, non sticky residue and a slow hair regrowth.
This luxurious wax contains Argon oil for its hydrating properties, Hazelseed Oil for its moisturising and inflammatory benefits and Cupuacu rich in essential fatty acids
How long does hair have to be to wax?
One of the frustrating realities with waxing is that the hair does need to be a certain length to get a good result. We’d usually recommend the hair is around 3-5 mm: about the length of a grain of rice. With shorter hairs it can be difficult to get a complete finish.
Is there anything I should do before my waxing appointment?
- Refrain from taking a shower or bath immediately before the treatment. Soaking the hair will soften it, allowing it to break more easily and making waxing less effective.
- Make sure the hair is the appropriate length for waxing.
- Make sure that the area(s) to be waxed are clean.
- There are certain medications and products that should not be taken or used if you plan to have a waxing treatment soon. Topical exfoliants used on the area to be waxed such as Retin-A, Renova, and hydroquinone, oral acne medications such as Accutane, blood-thinning medications, and topical/oral cortisone make the skin more sensitive and increase the likelihood of irritation or other complications. Please check with your doctor if you are unsure whether you should be waxed while on or using a medication
Before and After Tips
- Exfoliate the day before your appointment.
- For an underarm wax try and use a deodorant without antiperspirant on the day of your appointment as it aids removal of the hairs.
- Avoid any heat treatments for at least 24 hours after waxing like sunbeds, sunbathing, sauna and steam.
Electrolysis
What is electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a hair removal treatment. A trained electrologist inserts a thin wire into the hair follicle under the surface of the skin. An electric current moves down the wire to the bottom of the follicle, destroying the hair root. The follicle damage prevents hair from growing and causes the existing hair to fall out.
I use the Blend systems which successfully combines Galvanic and Diathermy to form the blend method. Bringing together the effectiveness of Galvanic electrolysis and incorporating it with the speed of Diathermy provides a faster, longer lasting solution to hair removal that is 40-60% more successful than either method alone. With a smoother more consistent current the blend method ensures maximum comfort for the patient.
I only use Sterex sterile pre-packed disposable needles.
How many electrolysis treatments will I need?
You will need several appointments. The number of sessions needed to achieve permanent hair removal differs from person to person. Typically, you need an appointment every week or every other week. The appointments can last for up to a year and a half.
Treatment length depends on several factors, including the body area and the type of hair growing there. If you’re treating a larger area, or an area with coarse hair, you’ll need more treatments.
Why do I need so many electrolysis treatments?
Hairs have different growth cycles. Your hair follicle produces hair and discards it through shedding. This hair production cycle is a process of growth, rest and replacement. Individual hairs are in different phases of this cycle. More than one treatment catches the hairs at the right point in the cycle to destroy them.
What do I need to know after the procedure?
For the first 24 hours after your treatment, try to avoid activities that may irritate the hair follicles, including:
- Anything that causes sweating.
- Tanning.
- Staying out in the sun.
- Applying makeup
